My fiance Juan has always loved boats and has always wanted to steer one as well and so it was no surprise that on August 15th, 2009, my fiance took me out for a surprise date and we ended up at Harbourfront on our own personal rented out yacht. He had not let on at all to what we were doing and would only tell me to wear something cool and comfortable. As we drove down towards Harbourfront, my fiance, looking so handsome in his golfshirt and shorts, was trying to have me guess what we were about to do. I was only able to guess correctly as we approached and were near the water. Our boat was small but beautiful and Juan had arranged for us to have lunch on the boat. We got on, met the captain and sailed off into the beautiful scenery around Lake Ontario. It was a wonderful and sunny day, perfect to tan in! As we sailed, Juan was actually able to sail on the boat for quite a while and I became more comfortable that I started to travel towards the front for a better view. Eventually Juan joined me and we sat for awhile and spoke about anything and everything. He then started to prod me with questions about our past and possible future. He also asked "philosophical" questions about what I believed love meant. This didn't faze me at all because he at times can talk about these concepts at length. I don't remember much of exactly what he said, but I do remember this: "Babe, I think the word love gets thrown around alot these days and I am not one to do so. When I say it I mean it. (gets down on one knee and opens the ring box). Therefore when I say that I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you I truly mean it. Babe, willl you marry me?" I swear, if I wasn't sitting on the boat I would have fallen over ... It came as a complete shock to me. I obviously said yes. We ended up calling everyone in our immediate family to tell them all the good news. We then spent the rest of the afternoon eating the fabulous lunch provided and taking in the wonderful scenery. This was definitely the most romantic day of my life! =]
